Wow it is already the middle of July and I can’t believe how fast time has blown by. It seems like yesterday we were in the grip of winter, not a cold grip, but a bit more grey and wet then the summers and voila, Victoria is in the midst of a heat wave. We broke all time records last week. Global warming aside it sure was a nice. I know some folks found it too hot, but it rarely gets that hot here, or even cold for that matter. Actually the weather is quite perfect, pleasant. No snow in the winter or freezing rain. No, well except for the heat last week, unbearable days where all one can think of is air conditioning. It is wonderful climate to be outside in all year round. You can go for a run, a bike ride or a around of golf pretty much any day of the year. The layers of clothing will vary, but rarely does one need to cancel an activity because of weather. No walking inside a mall in the summer to get your exercise, because if you do it outside heat stroke is just around the corner, or hitting golf balls in an enclosed driving range in January, because if you were to step outside your fingers will freeze and fall off.
I love to ride my bike and venture off about 4 days a week with a great group of folks. Sometime we a mass to 20 but most times there are between 8 and 10. We do this year round. Yes it is a little grey and cool in January but no chains are needed on our skinny tires.
Do not get me wrong I love to ski both downhill and cross country. I lived in Canmore for 8 years and loved it, but man was it ever cold. But here in Victoria I can still get my winter fix. I can drive just under 3 hours and I am at Mount Washington, where it can accumulate some of the most snow fall in North America. Okay it is not Whistler, but hey it sure is less crowded.
It sure is a great place to live, and today, Sunday, after a great morning ride and some fantastic coffee at a new local coffee spot owned by a good friend (Cafe Mela) it just hits home why so many people are starting to call Victoria home. It is beautiful!
Why not drop us a line or an e-mail, we would love to help you find your little piece of heaven in what many people call Lotus Land
Have great week
